Greetings!
I know it has been awhile, but nothing special is happening here. :) About a week ago, I was very homesick. But after talking to Mrs. Buck, my parents, and lots of prayer, I am doing better. I am trying to stay busy. Also, I have been getting up ealier to talk to my mom on skype before school this week. I will keep doing that and see if that helps too. I'm sure being able to talk to family will help. The weekends seem to have a slow connection because so many people are online, that the phone calls and skype don't work so well as early morning. I also miss my kitty and dog...Miss Kitty and Max. However, I couldn't bring them with me. For one thing it would have cost too much, and another thing is they would have had to be in quarentine for like 6 months, which by that time I wouldn't be here much longer. Soooo, no pets. There are several stray cats and dogs, but most people here don't like dogs...or cats. My roommates aren't into cats apparently. They said if I got one, it would have to stay in my bedroom...which I'm not against, but when you think about it, my room is small and it would be cruel to keep the cat locked up in the room day and night. So, I guess that is out. One thing I'm doing to keep busy is that I am tutoring 3 times a week...one student is 1 day a week, one student 2 times a week, and two other students 3 times a week...for an hour after school. The other days I am helping with play practice. This year they are doing a Christmas play, so it will be over before Christmas. I believe they put this production 3 times...the weekend we get out for Christmas break. I kind of help whereever I am needed for now. There is no piano, so one of the teachers plays the guatar. He actually rewrites the music that comes with the play for the songs to play on the guitar since it is different from piano. That is neat, tho.
The other day the kids were playing "Heads up, seven up" at the end of the day. I have students with jobs...one is sweeping the classroom. So, he was sweeping and says, "Hey Ms. Stewart. There's a crab." I said, "Where?" And he pointed to it! it was walking along the front of the room!!! It was at least the size of my hand! One of the boys picked it up and then dropped it just as fast, as he informs us that it pinched him. So another boy tries to pick it up. They seemed to be having so much trouble with it that I finally tell them to just sweep it out! The funny thing too, was that the other students still had their heads down on their desks playing! We did start that round again after the crab was taken care of. Should have had taken a picture! Oh well, I bet it won't be the last one that I see in the classroom. :)

  1. Wow a crab! Did you scream? I would have flipped out. That is pretty funny that the students kept their heads down the whole time. I am just thinking about my students and how they would have all been out of their seats trying to get a peek at the crab. Looks like you are keeping busy. Keep up the good work! - Ren

    1. Ren--No I didn't scream! I thought it was great how they just kept their heads down. Of course, there were a few that didn't, but many of them did! I do try to keep busy, as I think that will help keep me from being too homesick. Thanks-Sarah
