Greetings!
I know, can you believe I'm writing again so soon. I thought of a few things to add.
Apparently leaks are ok...and just come with the territory. Oh well. I guess I can live with that since we still need to rain. I just make sure that nothing is under the bed in the area that the water will run to. I keep the path clear. They collect the water in things called catchmans, I think. After this weekend we have full catchmans, so we can feel free to take long showers. :)
I wanted to mention that we do not actually drink the water we collect from the rain...I don't even use it to brush my teeth. We have 5-gallon jugs/containers that we fill up for the week. We, in the apartment, have 2 of these five gallon jugs. To fill them up, depending on where we go, it can cost $1.00 or $2.00 to fill up one container. So, last weekend, Mrs. Buck and I were going to town the store. We took the jugs ourselves. Well, the first time we went with them and the two places to fill up already had 2 containers in each one without anyone standing there. So, we did some other shopping and came back. Well, they were empty. The first place didn't take dollar bills, and they didn't have quarters either. So we walked next door. It was open too, but again didn't take dollar bills. But this time they could make change for dollars. So, here we are putting it all in...mind you, neither one of us have actually done this before. We get it started. The first container fills up and stops when it is supposed to...the second one, however, doesn't stop and it overflows!!!! We got a little wet walking back to the car with them, but we dried pretty quickly.
This past Tuesday, we handed out report cards. What they do here is parents are supposed to come and get them from 6-8 pm. So I think I had all but 5 or 6 parents come. It was a good turnout. I even had some parents surprised with their child's report card compared to last year, in a good way! It was students that were doing well all year, but apparently they didn't so well last year. I'm glad to know that I must be doing something right. One parent was saying that his daughter had told them that she could understand how I taught better...I also wonder if not having an accent while speaking English may help while I am teaching. But either way, I am doing something good to help these students.
I guess that is all for now. :)
