Greetings!
It's been busy around here. Yesterday, Friday, Dec. 7, was a holiday~Gospel Day. The high schoolers wanted to have a picnic on one of the outer islands...talk about private, pretty deserted tropical island...this is pretty close to it! I went and had a great and relaxing time. I will be adding pictures to the facebook page, since I can't get them to upload to the blog from here. If you don't have facebook, I will be putting together a digital photoalbum online when I return to the states so everyone will get to see.
I finally received a replacement camera last week. It is a cute little thing. It will do the job of taking pictures, so maybe I will be able to take more...especially as Christmas and the holidays begin to get closer. Back to yesterday...the island had a couple of caretakers, in which one had a little wiener mix puppy named Louie. He was a cutie for sure! I enjoyed petting him. There were also pigs...big and little, and chickens. This island had some huts and a restroom...but no electricity. We had to rent a boat to get us there. I got a little bit of sun, even with sun screen...while I was reading in the shade watching the beach. It is amazing that it is already December and so very close to Christmas! It is hard to get into the Christmas spirit when it is so very hot. I know in Georgia sometimes it stays somewhat warm, but nothing like this...flip flops and shorts weather every day, all day, just about. I looked at trees, and I found a very small 18" table top tree for about $6, however the lights were double that...and then decorating it. After doing some thinking, I just figured I would go without a tree this year. I will sure enjoy it next Christmas. Last week, I went with several high school students and some of the staff to go Christmas Caroling at 3 different business. It was pretty neat. They've never went to the business until this year. And now they have had several requests for them to come back and to other places! What a great way to share the gospel. Also, a public high school here has called to ask if our home ec students could make cookies for them...either because their students wouldn't or can't...of course, I don't think they agreed as they have time for all the extra. But what a testimony!
Merry Christmas!
Sarah
